Demo Reel

My latest demo reel. This shows some of my more recent work, as well as some from a long time ago. Most of the modelling and animation was done in Maya, with texturing and the later images in Photoshop and Illustrator. A small portion of the work was also completed in 3D Studio Max.

All of this was put together with Final Cut Pro, with some small changes to each render done in Shake.

Balloon Man

This was a short animation created for a university class. It was completed with Maya, with Photoshop used for texturing.

The Balloon Man character was rigged specifically for this animation so that he could be pulled and stretched like rubber. A system of connections meant that a single control point would control the position of the end of his arm, even when pulled beyond its normal length - causing it to stretch up to its limit.

Alphabet

A short animation to have some fun with particles, this took on several different iterations. While making it, I struggled to find the right balance between the random black letters, and the coherent red ones. Colour was obviously an important consideration, but finding the right place for the letters was more difficult. The animation originally had the red letters being dropped with the black ones, however I find that the current timing is more effective.

I still consider this to be a WIP, as I hope to add audio soon.

Boxman

Boxman was my first 3D animation. It was created in 2004 as a major project for my HSC. Although the quality of animation isn't great, this piece took a lot of time, as I begun from scratch with no prior knowledge of the processes involved. Everything I learnt was either self-taught or from picking up as much as I could from articles on the internet.

This is where my love for animation was born.
